Nicaragua Volcano Challenge

Challenge

The Nicaragua Volcano Challenge takes place from the 25 November until 3 December 2011 in the western part of Nicaragua. This trip will last 9 days, six of them being cycling days passing beautiful lakes and volcanoes. The Volcano Challenge is a challenging adventure for experienced mountain bikers: in six days, you will ride 400km on single tracks and dirt roads with an average length of 70km per day. We can host a maximum of 50 bikers for this edition.

Participating in the Volcano Challenge, you will visit family homes of WereldOuders in Nicaragua. This means that after the challenge you can tell the new sponsor parents (your sponsors) all about the environment, raising and education of the children they support. You can experience what their funds are used for.

The Nicaragua Volcano Challenge is unique in that participants do not raise money for charity; they gather at least 15 new sponsor parents who financially support a homeless child for duration of at least one year.



Goal

When you participate in this exclusive challenge, you give homeless children the chance to build a new future. It is not about raising money, but about gathering 15 new sponsor parents that help support children in Latin America. These parents support a child for 25 Euros a month. They offer structural help by giving an underprivileged child a home and a future.

WereldOuders

WereldOuders provides structural support to homeless children throughout nine Latin American countries. These children do not have parents, or their parents are not able to take care of them. WereldOuders makes sure these children are included in one of their family homes. Besides love, they give them attention and care, education, professional training and the chance to study. The children are supported by WereldOuders until they are independent adults. This way they have a chance of getting a good future, which will not only strengthen them personally but also builds their community.

You can sign up individually. Costs for registering and other administrative costs are 100 Euros per person. Participation and expense fees: 1500 Euros per person. The organization provides medical care during the event. As a participant you are responsible for a good preparation and the necessary vaccinations.
